LCI Corporation Commissions New Continuous Wet Granulation Test Equipment at Duquesne University

Pittsburgh, PA, February - LCI Corporation, in partnership with the Duquesne University School of Pharmacy, has commissioned its Dome-EX Combi System at The Duquesne University Center for Pharmaceutical Technology (DCPT). The equipment is now available for testing and development work by potential customers.

The Dome-Ex System is a brand new continuous wet granulation technology for producing ideal granules for tableting. The Dome-Ex allows pharmaceutical manufacturers to achieve dry mixing, wet granulation, and drying all in one system.

The Dome-Ex is a new innovation from LCI Corporation that was developed to support the pharmaceutical industry’s move to continuous manufacturing processes for pharmaceutical production.

The FDA expects “that adopting continuous manufacturing for pharmaceutical production will reduce drug product quality issues, lower manufacturing costs, and improve availability of quality medicines to patients”. 1

Those interested in evaluating the Dome-Ex are encouraged to contact LCI Corporation to schedule a potential test at DCPT.

LCI awarded patent for thin film evaporators

LCI Corp today announces that the United States Patent and Trademark Office has issued Patent  10,384,145 for thin film evaporators, wiped film evaporators, and short path evaporators. Thin Film Evaporation is a specialized process that quickly separates more volatile from less volatile components using indirect heat transfer and mechanical agitation of a flowing product film under controlled conditions. Inventors Jessica Astoria, John Fields, and James Horton have created an energy efficient solution for maintaining a consistent product temperature throughout the entire evaporation process. The invention provides a number of benefits and solutions, including:

  • Increase energy efficiency
  • Reduce cost of installation by reducing or eliminating preheater auxiliary equipment
  • Reduce cost of energy consumption
  • Reduced installation footprint
  • Reduces number of pressure vessels,  pressure relief valves, stream traps, and external piping

LCI Corp has a prototype test unit at their Test Center located in Charlotte, North Carolina. LCI Corp provides testing, equipment, and process expertise for industry leading companies around the world. LCI Corp, (formerly Luwa) is continuing to innovate and provide solutions worldwide since 1961.

LCI achieves 3A re-certification

LCI is proud to announce as of 12 January 2018 LCI Coporation has received our certification and is is hereby authorized to continue to apply the 3-A Symbol to the models of equipment, conforming to 3-A Sanitary Standards.
